Yosemite Hammock FAQs
Do you have instructions for hanging the hammock correctly?
Instructions can be found here.
Is the mosquito net removable?
Who is asking? The mosquito army commander? There is no need to remove the mosquito net. You can easily remove the net poles, flip over the hammock 180 degrees, and use it like a regular hammock without the mosquito net.
What is the weight of the actual hammock?
So light you won’t notice it. About 1.8 lbs for the size “small” and 2.1 lbs for the size “large” – all gear included (straps, carabiners)
What are the dimensions of the hammock in the bag?
Teeny tiny, we promise. About 10 in x 10 in x 2 in for size “small” and 12 x 11 x 2.5 in for size “large”.
Is the hammock waterproof / rainproof?
While our hammock is super fly, it doesn’t come with rain fly tarp. If it rains, you’re going to get wet. We recommend our olympic tarp, which specifically design for our hammocks and all weather conditions.
How do you set up this hammock?
First, find some poles or trees roughly 12-15 ft apart. Second, hang the hammock using the tree straps and carabiners… See our instructions at www.ridgeoutdoorgear.com/instructions
Does the hammock come with a mattress or sleeping pad?
No. What made you ask this question? You can use a regular camping pad inside of the hammock.
Is this hammock a single or double?
“Single” and “Double” are marketing terms invented on amazon. All our hammocks fit one person for sleeping comfortably. All will fit two people in “lounge” mode, but we don’t recommend sleeping two people in our (or any other) hammock. Two bodies will be pressed up against each other and most people will become uncomfortable very quickly when trying to sleep.
We sell three sizes:
Yosemite Hammock – size small (a true “single” hammock).
Yosemite Hammock – size large (fits two people in lounge mode more comfortably)
Pinnacles Lay-Flat Hammock – size extra large (at 11 feet long, this is our largest hammock)
I’m 6’10, will I fit in the hammock?
Honestly, our hammocks might be on the small side for you. Our largest size is the Pinnacles Lay-Flat Hammock, which is 11 feet long. Folks talker than 6’5 may need to look for a hammock that is 12 feet long.
Does it come with tree straps?
YES! YES! YES! This bundle comes with everything you need to use and enjoy your hammock including premium tree straps and carabiners. No ropes or knots are needed!
What is the weight limit?
What material is the hammock made of ?
Our brand new “dynalon” ripstop nylon, which is specifically design to be higher strength and softer than the 210T 70D parachute nylon (most) everyone else uses.
How do I wash my hammock?
We recommend a damp washcloth or hand-washing with very light soap. Hang dry. If you must machine wash, remove the carabiners and put on the most delicate and shortest cycle in cold water only. Machine washing risks damaging the mosquito netting, which is fragile. Use a garment bag to reduce the likelihood of damaging to the mosquito netting. Always hang dry. Never put the hammock in the dryer!
How high do I hang my hammock?
Hang the straps about 5-6 ft high on a tree or pole. The hammock should hang so that the bottom is no more than 1-2 ft off the ground and you can sit in it like a chair with your feet on the ground. Hanging the hammock higher is unstable and you risk falling out and ripping the hammock.
Where are you located?
Our entire team is located just outside of Pensacola, Florida. It is almost always sunny here! Come visit!
Will my dog or cat nails rip the hammock?
Yes, it is possible that animal nails will tear the hammock. We recommend leaving sharp and hot items objects out of the tent. No dogs. No lightsabers.
Where does my item ship from?
Warehouses all over the United States.
How long are the straps?
3 ft long each with 10 loops each (2 straps included, you get 6 ft total).
I didn’t receive my item, what do I do?
Check the tracking number, which you should have received via email. If there is still an issue, contact us immediately. firstname.lastname@example.org
Can it be used as a tent on the ground?
The hammock could possibly be used in this way, but be cautious and make sure there are no sharp objects on the ground – sharp objects will end the life of your hammock early. You may need extra tie-outs or ropes to keep the netting from closing in on you.
Will it stop no-see-ums?
Will anything stop no-see-ums? No-see-ums are the smallest insect known to man. It is hard to stop them! However, we believe our netting will stop most, if not all no-see-ums.
